Trace (Fourteen Minutes)

A single unbroken line, drawn once, over fourteen minutes. Renke's routine is eleven lines long and takes one seed; he ran it, kept this sheet, and threw away the other four. The line never crosses itself, which is not a rule he wrote but a consequence of one, and finding the place where it nearly does is most of the pleasure of standing in front of it. Near the lower edge the pen was running dry and he let it, so the last ninety seconds of the drawing are visibly the last ninety seconds. The routine comes with the work and will produce this sheet again on any plotter, which Renke regards as beside the point.
