A plain at dusk with a shallow ridge across the far third of it, exposed for thirty-one hours — the longest Quist has run a scene. There is no structure in the picture and no figure, and it is nonetheless a picture of somebody's intention: the ground has been graded flat over an area far too large to be accidental, and the grading stops in a straight line for no reason the image will give you. Quist took the title from the published landing coordinates of an early survey vehicle and insists the reference is geographical and nothing else. It is still the most forward-looking work in the room.
